Fugitive Captured & Drug Arrest Made
On April 17, 2012 Sr. Deputy Stuart Davis of the Hampshire County Sheriff's Office and Chief Michelle
Brashears of the Capon Bridge Police Department responded to Park's Hollow Subdivision, located off
Dillon's Run Road to execute warrant on James A. Slonaker, age 43, for being a fugitive from justice in
the state of Virginia.

When officers were entering the subdivision, Sr. Deputy Davis witnessed Slonaker riding an ATV.  The
deputy attempted to initiate a stop on the ATV and Slonaker sped off.  A short pursuit ensued until
Slonaker exited the roadway and drove into a wooded area.  Officers continued patrolling the
subdivison.  Deputy Davis located Slonaker and witnessed him coasting down a hill, and attempting to
restart the ATV.  When the engine would not restart, Slonaker attempted to flee on foot.  Deputy Davis
caught up with Slonaker a short distance later and took him into custody without further incident.

During a search of Slonaker, Deputy Davis recovered a pill holder from the suspect's pocket that
contained two suspected percocet and two suspected oxycodone pills.  Slonaker did not possess a
valid prescription for either pill.

Slonaker was wanted in Frederick County, VA for the felony offense of possession of cocaine and also
felony failure to appear.  He was charged in Hampshire County with being a fugitive from justice,
fleeing on a motor vehicle, fleeing on foot, and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

He was released to the Potomac HIghlands Regional Jail to await arraignment.
