K-9 DEPLOYED TO APPREHEND SUSPECT
In the early morning hours of November 4, 2007 Deputy C.P. Carroll responded to assist the Hardy
County Sheriff's Office with an out of control male subject at Paradise City Exotic Dance Club on Rt. 259.
Witnesses stated that the male had fled on foot.  Deputy Carroll deployed his K-9, "Ryker", to track the
suspect.  At that time, Ryker did not indicate a scent and was returned to the scene.  Deputy Carroll then
saw a male in the parking lot of the club that matched the description of the suspect.  As Deputy Carroll
was walking toward him, the suspect fled around the rear of the building.  After being commanded to
stop by the officer, the male continued to run.  Deputy Carroll released his K-9 to apprehend the
suspect.  "Ryker" apprehended the male subject behind the building and held him until officers placed
him into custody.  The male subject was subsequently transported to the hospital by EMS workers.
