On Saturday, February 16, 2008, the members of the Hampshire County Deputy Reserve Program spent the whole day refining their skills and learning new ones. The training is an annual event that is required of every member. This year's training was instructed by the Deputy Reserve Coordinator, Cpl. J.E. Carter.
Although training is offered throughout the year, the Annual Training is an event that covers topics that are required by the department and the State of WV. Saturdays topics included the Reserve Program's Code of Ethics, Drug Trends, and a refresher on defensive tactics.
The Reserve Unit is made up of volunteers that live in Hampshire County and work hand-in-hand with the Sheriff's Office to provide needed coverage at large public events, as well as conduct security patrols thoughout the county. The program has been operational for five years and has shown great success.
The Hampshire County Deputy Reserve Program is currently accepting applications for membership. If you would like more information, contact any reserve member or Cpl. J.E. Carter at jcarter@hampshirecountysheriffwv.com
