UNEVENTFUL HOLIDAY FOR SHERIFF'S OFFICE
|
Christmas day was fairly uneventful for the Sheriff's Office. Several minor complaints were handled,
including a female that called in to report that several Christmas presents had been stolen from her
residence sometime during the last week. Sometime later, the same female called back to advise the
officers that her child had found the gifts prior to Christmas and already had possession of them.
Later in the evening, Cpl. Carter responded to Don Kenney Drive in Springfield to assist WV State Police
on a reported missing juvenile. The 15 year old female had been missing for approximately 4 hours.
Deputy Carroll from the HCSO K-9 Division was contacted to assist. The juvenile was not located in or
around the residence. WV State Police were continuing the investigation.
At approximately 1:00 am, Cpl. Carter and Deputy Carroll were entering the town of Springfield and
witnessed three juveniles walking North on Rt. 28. Upon contacting the male juveniles, one discarded a
beer can into the creek. After further investigation, two of the juveniles were found to be in possession
of an American flag and a West Virginia flag. The two admitted to stealing the flags from
Springfield-Greenspring Elementary School. The two that were in possession of the flags also were
under the influence of alcohol. All three juveniles were released to parents or responsible adults.
Juvenile petitions will be filed with the prosecuting attorney's office.
