The Deputy Reserve Program consists of volunteers from all around
Hampshire County who work in conjunction with the deputies to provide a safer
and better place to live for the citizens of Hampshire County.

The Deputy Reserves enhance the force at public functions such as football
games, Hampshire County Fair, Heritage Days, and many others too numerous
to mention.  Deputy Reserves often accompany full time Deputies on their
scheduled patrols and assist where needed.

Requirements are to be at least 21 years of age, with a clean criminal history.
Membership is decided by the active members of the organization with the final
decision resting with the Reserve Coordinator and the Sheriff.

The Reserve Coordinator is Lt. J.E. Carter.  Lt.. Carter has been a full time
deputy with the Sheriff's Office since April 2004.  He graduated the WV State
Police Academy in April of 2005.  Before beginning full time employment with
the Sheriff's Office, Lt.. Carter was an active member of the Deputy Reserve
Program since it's inception in the Summer of 2002.
