Helpful Information:

Real Estate and Personal property tax statements are mailed annually around July 15th.  Real Estate tax
statements are mailed to the name and address listed on the deed as of July 1 of the previous year unless a
different address or name is provided to our office.  Personal property tax statements are mailed based on the
assessment submitted the previous year to the Assessor’s Office.

Payments can be submitted by mail, in person or over the phone.  Our office currently accepts Mastercard, Visa
and Discover cards with an additional convenience fee.  All returned checks are subject to a $25.00 service
charge.

Taxpayers receive a 2 ½% discount on the first half installment if paid on or before September 1.  This discount
is also applied to the second half installment if paid on or before the following March 1.  Postmarks are observed
as time of payment.

The first half installment becomes delinquent if not paid before October 1.  The second half installment becomes
delinquent if not paid before the following April 1.  Taxes remaining unpaid on April 30 will be subject to
publication.  If publication occurs, additional fees will be charged.

If taxes are not paid on or before the date on which they become delinquent, including both first and second
installments, interest at the rate of nine percent per annum shall be added from the date they become delinquent
until paid.

The annual Sheriff’s Tax Lien Sale is held for one day between October 14 and November 23.  The exact date of
the sale will be scheduled in late September.  We do not notify the public by mail of the sale, nor do we accept
bids through the mail or over the phone.  All purchasers must be present or represented by a third party.  The
bidding process starts at the delinquent tax amount and goes to the highest bidder.  The bid amount plus current
year taxes must be paid in full directly following the conclusion of the sale.  Property owners have approximately
18 months to redeem the property following the Tax Lien Sale.
